Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems hold great potential to support security experts by handling routine or data-intensive tasks, allowing humans to focus on critical thinking, strategic decisions, and contextual judgment. Our research explores how AI can effectively collaborate with experts in high-stakes cybersecurity environments.
At the core of our work is a focus on the human side of cybersecurity —
understanding the needs, concerns, and strengths of experts who use or
supervise AI systems. We explore how experts decide when to rely on AI, what tasks to delegate, and how much control to retain — decisions that hinge on trust, clarity, and the risks involved. Designing effective AI tools requires more than just technical capability; it demands a deep understanding of expert workflows and expectations.
